I had the privilege of attending the birth of sweet Ember Jane Alvarez about a month ago. For a first time mama the whole process took about 10 hrs. It was beautiful and full of love.

The months previously to the birth I worked with Kristen and Armando in our prenatal meetings. They educated themselves and knew exactly what they wanted for their birth. We worked hard to make sure that happened. And boy did it!

I arrived at the birth center to find Kristen in full on labor! I jumped right into action. I did the hip squeeze, rebozo work and held the fan for her amongst other things. The birth center room was thick with God's presence. You could almost touch it. She was surrounded by her family. Her husband, Armando was a solid rock through the whole process. He never left her side. At one point the midwife wanted to do some rebozo work and Armando insisted that he do it! It was so refreshing to see dad so willing to do what needed to be done.

Music was playing and scriptures were read and posted around the room. You could hear her mom praying as she fanned her baby girl to keep her cool. All the oxytocin was flowing!

She pushed for about 3 hrs and out came Ember Jane! A promise to the whole family that God loved them. Kristen's reaction to actually holding her baby girl was the absolute best! She screamed with excitement and everyone else cried happy tears.

Kristen explained why she chose the name Ember and the water works started again! She had prayed for a joyful birth and that she got. Little Ember was born on April Fools at 11:39 pm.

It was such an honor to help the Alvarez family bring their sweet girl into the world!
